Udanti Sitanadi Forest Visualization

Project Summary

This project is centered on the creation of a cloud-based application designed for tracking changes in the forest map of the Utandi Sitandi Region. It utilizes analytical methods like the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for forests and the Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) for water bodies to assess spatial changes. Additionally, it tracks forest cover variations, including loss and time series analysis. The application simplifies the process of conducting such studies, offering comprehensive cloud-based processing capabilities where results can be obtained with a single click. It eliminates the laborious tasks of downloading satellite images, processing them, and performing image analysis and visualization, as these functions are handled by an integrated algorithm. The web application delivers final outcomes in the form of interactive visual maps, which are essential for policymakers monitoring forest areas across the state. The various applications produced through this project include:

The portal is for research and visualization purpose ONLY. The results shown are purely based on processing of imageries (and associated errors) on Google Earth Engine Cloud and subject to Ground Truthing work. The visualization portal is derived from LANDSAT and Sentinel 2 Satellite imageries having resolution of 30 metres and 10 metres respectively which may include errors in determining the objects smaller than the mentioned resolution. The vector layers have shift/displacement errors upto 200 metres.
